What Did They Say About Mehmet Uluğ

What DID They Say About Mehmet Uluğ ?

What set Mehmet Uluğ apart was his search for ways to pick out the treasures of the music world, which we think we already know but cannot actually differentiate, so he could generously share these treasures with us, as well as his ability to continue renewing himself without being satisfied with his successes in this field.

His contributions to Istanbul’s music life are so big that I find it hard to identify ‘the most important one’. I find it very impressive that he gave us hope with products that efficiently use the connectivity in the essence of music, as well as his skill for broadening many music listeners’ horizons. I also think he stood out due to his ability to lead the way to critical thinking for the masses through music.

“As far as I knew him, Mehmet Uluğ stood out because of his enthusiastic, yet calm, character, deeply connected with music culture. Therefore, I can say that it was hard to think of Mehmet as a separate identity from the concept of music.”

“All of them were created by the three of us, but our visionary and source of pride was Mehmet.”, says Ahmet Uluğ. - ‘In Respectful Memory of Mehmet Uluğ’ Seda Pekçelen, Time Out İstanbul, December 2013

“Mehmet was working on many projects. One of them was an international music festival he’d been dreaming of, for which he would use various parts of Turkey as a stage. We had started to work on that. We decided on the concert areas and the program and had contacted the local teams. But when his health deteriorated, we delayed it. We’ve just started to work on making his dream a reality in the spring of 2014.”
